Balls Creek Elementary Students Bring Life To Recyclables In Catawba County
Thousands of plastic bottle caps, piles of cardboard boxes and roles of duct tape may not amount to much of anything for most people, but for sixth-graders at Balls Creek Elementary, it's an ingredient list for some serious fun. The school's STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) teacher Stephanie Eddings had the students in Joe Aiello's science class designing and building life-size recycled art sculptures. The students will then create miniature models on a 3D printer. The students were divided into groups with each given just two words to inspire them - robot and then another specific to each group.
