Final Adjournment On The Horizon As Legislature Winds Up Its Work
The General Assembly worked late into the night all week long in an effort to adjourn the 2017 legislative session, which at the time of publication of this newsletter, is set to occur late Thursday night or early Friday morning.
Legislatively speaking, the week has been highlighted by the House and Senate's votes to override Governor Cooper's veto of the budget, putting the 2017-2019 spending plan in to law.
Education related legislation has gone back and forth between the chambers and at this time it is unclear what legislation will cross the finish line and be approved by both chambers and head to the Governor for his signature. Please go to our daily blog, The Daily Discussion, to see all the action from this week, and please check back tomorrow to see what legislation saw action late in the night tonight and early morning hours tomorrow.
