Bills Affecting Public Schools Introduced As Filing Deadline Approaches
State lawmakers opened their 2020 short session April 28 with a focus mainly on COVID-19 relief efforts; however, they also are introducing new policy and funding bills affecting public education and not related to pandemic recovery. House and Senate members faced a deadline of 4 p.m. today for filing most bills with a statewide impact, meaning a few additional bills impacting public schools could still be introduced and referred to committees in either chamber during their next scheduled floor session.
